Creating roadmaps and OKRs for a Technical Communications department

Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) are a goal-setting framework that can be used to prioritize a product roadmap, which itself is a long-term development plan to provide insight, direction, and collaboration amongst stakeholders.

At DataKitchen, I introduced the first Technical Communications department roadmaps and OKRs. This subdivision of the Product team had never prioritized the creation or maintenance of high-level goals or direction. The 2023 and 2024 roadmaps, the associated OKRs, and the quarterly business review meetings provided cohesion, understanding, and helped to streamline processes and priorities among key stakeholders. Plus it helped the entire group achieve strategic objectives, build towards performing product (the help center and documentation), and create value.
